Ramset RA54 Tool Kit. The Ramset RA54 is the most powerful powder actuated tool that Ramset offers. It is designed for everyday heavy use. The tool uses standard .27 caliber strip loads, green, yellow, red and the higher power level purple. Because the tool can handle the extra power, it makes it an excellent choice when fastening into structural steel or when you need to get 1-1/4" penetration into concrete. The tool works well with the Ramset line of True Embedment pins and Power Point pins for heavy applications. Includes, tool and carry case.
Ramset RA54 Buyer's Guide
The Ramset RA54 is the most powerful powder actuated tool offered by Ramset in the US. This is a rugged tool designed for everyday repetitive use as well as in difficult over drive situations or when you need more power. The tool uses standard .27 caliber strip loads that are readily available in green, yellow and red. Because the RA54 is built to handle it, .27 caliber loads at a purple power level are available. Please keep in mind that these purple loads, Ramset part number 6RS27 are only for use in specific tools designed to handle the power!
Capacities And Features Of The Ramset RA54
The RA54 can handle up to a 3” pin and can also be outfitted with a magazine for production work. Pin length for use in the magazine is up to 1-5/16”. The tool features power adjustment, you can drop up to two full power levels. I would rather switch colors rather than dial down the power. I think the tool runs a little cleaner.
Who Is The Ramset RA54 Designed For
Ramset’s RA54 tool is a good choice for many applications. The tool is well suited for constant use. Especially is that true if you are shooting to steel on a regular basis. The tool pairs well with Ramset’s Power Point pins as well as their True Embedment series of pins. The extra power can come in handy if you must reach deeper embedment in steel or concrete. Teamed with the SP178 pin, it’s a great tool for shooting 2x to steel. The front end of the tool is well built so that means it can take the abuse of overdrive applications including shooting foam board to poured concrete foundations or shooting through fireproofing material. The tool wouldn’t be my first choice for general construction or overhead work as it is a bit heavy. If you want a real workhorse with a little extra power, consider the RA54.
Repair Parts For The RA54
The most common repair part for the RA54 tool is the piston, buffer and return rubber. I do recommend cleaning the tool regularly and using a little anti-seize compound on the threads of the front end. Over time it can be hard to get the front end of the tool off otherwise.
